He gets his looks from his mom

When I am at school my sister watched Lil G for me and makes sure to take L O T S of pictures too so that I don't miss out on anything that is happening . Here are a few pictures from her most recent photo shoot. Thanks B for making sure that he has all the fun he can have that I don't miss out either.

He loves his basketball

Oh he so knows that he is pretty much the "IT" thing right now

My handsome Little Man.

Green & Gold Pride

I decided that it be best to instill in my son the joys of football, especially when it comes to the only all American team out there...The Green Bay Packers. Even though he was born in Illinois, I know that by default his blood runs green and gold and we wear these colors with pride! I do understand that our home is a house divided, which is why on the Bears game days I do allow him to wear his Bears jersey, after all he does have to root for his Uncle K's team.

Why So Serious...because curiosity got the better of me.

As soon as he became mobile, Lil G got into everything, but his favorite toy was markers. I don't know if it is because they look like the Popsicle's that he gets to eat, or if it's because he loves the taste of the wonderful colors he sucks the ink out of (yes they are non toxic-not made in China). It just so happened that one day he got into a deep blue marker and when we caught him I burst out laughing. He reminded me of the Joker from Batman. I looked at him and right away asked "Why so serious?" Of course he had no idea what I was talking about, and looked at me like I was crazy, especially when I was laughing at my own "whitty" joke.

A little bit later I was trying to clip his finger nails and noticed that he had a really nasty burn on his finger. We have no idea what happened to him at all or what he could have burned his hand on. The only theory we came up with was that he touched my hair straightener when I was curling my hair for church one morning. I am begining to think that my son feels no pain, because if that is that case then he never screamed or cried when that happened and never showed any signs of pain which is why it took me so long to notice the burn. Well, as soon as it was discovered he got the bandages put on and the burn ointment to prevent infection. The Little Man was a complete trooper and kept the bandage on until it healed, and even wore the sock over it all night.

I have learned from this that even when I am right by a hot iron, the quickest little hands can grab it faster than I can put it up. I have been better at making sure the straightener is out of reach be it on or off just to make sure that curiosity can't hurt him again.

Burgers as big as his eyes

We stopped at Steak and Shake for a quick dinner on the run. Lil G and Miss A shared a kids meal that had little sliders in it. The burgers looked so little to me until I saw my sons hands wrapped around the bun. The burger was a HUGE hit and had maintained a slot in one of the "edible" foods he won't push away. (Note: the ones he doesn't eat are because of texture, not taste, the kid loves sea weed...that says it all)

Happy 1st Birthday Lil G

It was hard to believe that my little man was turning 1 and now he is almost 15 months. I had been planning his 1st birthday for as long as I could remember. I am going to be honest, this was really for me because of my love of pirates. The pictures below showed a little into the glimpse of the chaos of fun that became our backyard. My favorite part was his meltdown after he had cake smashed all over him.

Cupcakes we made for the guests

This was a really fun 1st birthday and it was a perfect way to spend it with friends and family. Happy Birthday Lil G!

Yeah I graduated high school before I had my son...Why?

I started my new job at St. Francis Hospital working on 5 South in the Med/Surge unit. Needless to say I have some pretty interesting stories (nothing like Keenan's ER ones though). Well, as all the employees are getting to know me I get the basic questions, "Is this your first time working in a hospital setting?" "Are you going to school for nursing?" "Did you grow up here?" "Are you dating/married?", but never anything about kids. I never really thought anything of it until I told another PCT about my 1 year old.

Tech: "Did you get to finish high school before you had him?"
Me: "Of course I did, I had him after high school."
Tech: "That is great that you got to get your diploma, most girls in your situation wouldn't have."
Me: "What situation? Having a kid?"
Tech: "Yeah being pregnant in High school."
Me: "Oh I wasn't pregnant with him in high school, I had him after I graduated."
Tech: "Oh I see, so you graduated over a year ago."
Me: "Hahahaha, no I am 27. I graduated many years ago."
Tech: "Really???! I thought you were 18 or 19, wow do I feel dumb."
Me: "Don't feel dumb, that is a huge compliment."

This was not the first time I had this conversation since starting. A majority of my co-workers all have thought that I am younger than I am, usually guessing anywhere from 18-20. Looking at a few recent pictures I guess I can see where they think that I am younger than my age.

My Beautiful Boy

A year has passed and Little Dude has grown to
be such an amazing little man. Words can not describe
how much I love this precious boy that has been given to me
and entrusted in my care. Here are a few pictures of the
first year of his life. I think that this song describes
exactly how I feel.
I love you my beautiful boy!

Oh how the time flies...

I am really bad at this blogging thing. I'm gonna blame it on the fact that I lost my camera and not that I just lose track of time. What has happened in the last few months, hmmm. I completed my CNA program and passed the state exam with flying colors. I am now able to work in the Illinois medical field, not to just get that job. Upon finishing the Spring semester I enrolled in the summer session as well. I am now down to 2 classes (from the 4 I originally signed up to take) and am feeling so much better. I took the NLN exam for fun, yes I took a test for fun and also to see what the lay out was like and what I am going to need practice with. I am just crossing my fingers that I will be ready to apply for the Fall 2011 Nursing program come next January.
I have been loving spending all this time with my little man and am still in shock that a year has almost already passed from when I held him in my arms that first time. He has accomplish so much. Some of his first are: flying on a plane, leaving the mainland, going to Hawaii, playing on the beach and eating the sand, catching his 1st wave with Uncle K & not getting sunburned (unlike his mom). He also has 4 teeth, but along with those teeth has come some pretty bad ear infections. Either they have never healed or else he just has some bad ears. I have talked to his pediatrician about the matter and he has to have 2 more in the next year in order for tubes to be considered. Not into having this procedure, but I also want him to be healthy.
He doesn't let this little ear infections get him down, Lil G keeps on keeping on and tried to reach the stars. He has been more daring with his walking and has decided that sometimes getting up and using two limbs instead of all four is quicker. We went to a 3rd of July BBQ and he was in love with this jumpy jump/water slide combo. I looked at him and said if you want the water you need to walk to it. So he did just that, walked 15 steps over the this pool and looked up at me, smiled and clapped. I have to say that I am so proud of this little bear.
So as of right now this is the abridged updated version about a boy and his mommy.

Happy 4th of July

This was Lil G's 1st 4th of July (this year has been full of a lot of 1st) I opted to not take him out to the fire works since he has been having a lot of ear infections and they are still very sensitive. Well, we did the next best thing, watched them on TV. Lil G just stared in complete awe at the screen and clapped at every boom and cluster of color flying into the air. He was so excited towards the grand finale that he started dive bombing Uncle K and hitting hitting him with his hands. After we watched the fire works we headed outside to light some sparklers of our own. Lil G absolutely loved them and tried very hard to grab them. At one point he even stood up and walked after me to grab them. In all, this was a pretty memorable 4th to be spending with family and friends. I am so proud to be an American!

Loves & Kisses

This is our usual bed time routine. My sister has this oh so comfy chair that I sit in with Lil G where we sing and read books to each other. He may not have words to say at the moment but his little mind is just working hard at taking everything in. Right before I put him in his crib I smother him with loves and kisses. The best part is that he is starting to realize the affection and loves giving the kisses back.

Piano Man

The whole time that Miss M practiced her piano, Mr. G hung out under the bench. He occasionally poked his head out, but quickly retreated back under to listen to her play. Not gonna lie, he loves his Miss M.

Shhh we're in the Library

Now that Mr. G is mobile he has so much more fun. We went to the library to get some books, but more so get out of the house that this cold weather has kept us trapped inside. Mr. G's eyes lit up the moment he was able to roam free in the kids zone and play with all the toys. I love that he is just tons and tons of smiles all the time.

Snot Stew

So throughout my life I have come to realize that I can handle poopy diapers, vomit, toots beyond a normal smell & whatever other random smells come from dogs, kids & good ole mother nature. My little man has been a little sick with a cold and his 1st ear infection (thank heavens for antibiotics) but with this cold comes snot...and lots of it. I have come to realize that snot is one of the few things that totally triggers my gag reflex. This has been a true test of my will power to hold it together for Mr. G as I suck his nose all free of blockage so he can eat a bottle and sleep better. What a site to see, me dry heaving and this little baby screaming at the top of his lungs. Some day I know he will thank me for my sacrifice as a mom. But I can honestly say that I don't love him enough to use the nosefrida. I'll stick with the bulb

Happy Birfday to MEEEE

For my birthday Mr. G got me a diamond bracelet that spells out MOM, or WOW depending on how you wear it. He loved the box and got a little tude with me when we had to take it away because it was soaked with his spit. It was the best birthday present any man has ever given me.

The best gift I ever got....

It is amazing how fast the time has gone already since I first held my little man in my arms. Here are some of my favorite 1st with him. I still can't believe that this precious little man is all mine. I wouldn't trade him for the world. I love you my chunky monkey.

Taking a bath is fun to do

Now that Mr. G has confidence in his balance, bath time has become a lot more fun. He just loves crawling around all over the tub & playing with his toys. His favorite thing to do is put his head under the water, unfortunately he is still learning how to pull it back out. He'll catch on soon. In the mean time I get to be Super Mom who rescues him from those intense moments.

So this is an icecream headache

He so badly wanted to be like the big kids I just couldn't say no...well almost. This is a fake cone from my nieces play food. Mr. G didn't even care, he just loved holding it on his own.

Walkin on broken....ice?

A fun family outing out to the beach and ONTO the lake. Yes we are walking on the lake not next to it. In the winter when the waves break on the shore they freeze, so the whole beach is nothing but frozen waves that you can run up and down. As you get out further onto the water you can see the ice drifts floating all around and even hear the water underneath splashing. I hope this becomes a new family tradition.

BIG G, little g...

Mr. G hanging out with his favorite cousin! He just becomes all smiles when he is around my friends son. Do I see a future babysitter???? If not that I know that he will be an amazing role model.
